I wanted to tell you about an event happening this summer that may be of interest to you, your CSTA organization, and your students. Our group, the Vintage Computing Collective of North Texas, are organizing the Vintage Computing Festival Southwest this summer at the University of Texas - Dallas. The show is a meeting of vintage computing enthusiasts and brings together luminaries in the world of computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering and others to celebrate the rich history of computing. Vintage computing has a lot to offer students and the world of education because vintage computers were often much simpler and easier to understand and program for, and we think they represent an excellent opportunity for young people to learn how computers function still today.
We would welcome participation from all students and educators, and admission to the show is free for young people age 17 and under. We also are happy to provide opportunities for students to volunteer and get credit toward those activities for schools that require them. We will also have informational seminars, kit building labs, and instructional classes on computer architectures.
Thank you for your time,
Jay Crutti
