We hope you and your loved ones are all well and healthy at this difficult time. As you know, planning for the upcoming summer is full of uncertainty. Given the unknowns, The University of Texas at Austin in partnership with Code.org are restructuring the CS Discoveries and CS Principles local summer workshops to a blended-learning virtual online experience during the same weeks: July 13-17, 2020 and July 20-24. The follow-up school year sessions are planned to include virtual and in-person options.
For Texas teachers, the cost of the program is $1,500 per person. This program fee includes five local summer workshop days in the summer and four in-person or eight virtual follow-up sessions during the academic year. The curriculum, online student learning platform, and access to support from the teacher and Code.org community are all provided free of charge.
Texas Computer Science courses, included those aligned to CS Discoveries (CS Fundamentals) and CS Principles (CS Principles), have recently moved to CTE and qualify for weighted funding. There are also scholarships are available for those that qualify.
We are also in the process of creating engaging virtual workshops for CS Fundamentals. As we develop more details, we’ll be sure to share!
