Thanks to grants from The KLE Foundation, H-E-B Tournament of Champions and Red River, Youth Code Jam is excited to announce the application for the 2020-21 Jam in a Box (with all new materials and resources) is open. We will select 35 schools in and around Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston and the Rio Grande Valley.
Thanks to grants from The KLE Foundation, H-E-B Tournament of Champions and Red River, Youth Code Jam is excited to announce the application for the 2020-21 Jam in a Box (with all new materials and resources) is open. We will select 35 schools in and around Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Houston and the Rio Grande Valley.
Each selected school receives a $500 stipend, a free Jam in a Box kit with a Virtual Jam option, and free teacher professional development for up to two teachers/librarians per school. The kits, combined with the professional development workshops, will equip each selected school to host its own Community Code Jam either in person or virtually for families.
Priority will be given to Title One schools in ESC Regions 1, 4, 10, 13, and 20, but all are welcome to apply as additional funding is pending. Schools who were in our 2019-20 cohort are eligible to apply for a Year Two award.
Application Requirements
The application is online here. The deadline to apply is June 1, 2020. You and your school will need to commit to the following:
- Two individuals (teachers/librarians) from your school to spearhead the project.
- Attendance at our summer workshops (virtual, until social distancing, is removed).
- Agree to host an in-person or virtual Community Code Jam prior to the end of the 2020-21 School Year.
- School administrator’s support and commitment to host the Jam.
- Agreement to use our surveys and return the data requested.
