The following computer science-related laws were passed during this past legislative session.
HB 3 provides CTE weighted funding for all 7th through 12th-grade computer science courses offered for high school credit.

HB 963 requires the SBOE consolidate the 9-12 Technology Applications courses with similar courses found in the CTE curriculum.  This means that in the near future, chapter 126 of the TEKS will no longer exist for high school courses.  High school courses will be moved under CTE in either the Information Technology or STEM clusters.

HB 2984 requires the SBOE to update the K-8 Technology Application standards to ensure that they include coding, computer programming, computational thinking, and cybersecurity.  It also requires a committee to be established to create a strategic plan for K-12 CS Education.
